In this blog post, we’ll explore love journal prompts that will help you reflect on your relationships.
Think about the shortest person you know. What is their attitude typically? If it’s anything like the person I have in mind, they pack a mean punch and are full of energy. February is no different. It’s the calendar’s short friend.
While it may be the shortest month, it’s jam packed with a wealth of information (Black History Month) and is the ode to the strongest drug of all … LOVE (credit: J.Cole). In this month, we’ll unpack what love means to us and how we can best show love in the season’s we’re in.
The idea behind this set of love journal prompts is help identify ways you can improve love in your relationships. The most important relationship is the one with yourself so these could really be considered self love journal prompts.
In the process of better loving yourself, you can only improve your other relationships. Daily self love prompts are vital for introspection. Consider this a self love challenge.
This blog post is all about the most essential love journal prompts for your relationships with yourself and your loved ones

Setting Up a Journal about Love
Since we’ve already created our template for what we are going to do each month, the task of copying prompts and setting up this month should be fairly easy. If you are finding this page first, check out my post on how to start this journal here, then pop back over to get the love journal prompts.
Important Love Journal Supplies
Best Journals for Writing a Love Journal
Notebook or journal Options
I typically use a Filofax for my journal prompts about love. My Malden style journals (A5 or half letter and personal) have held up for years and they have gotten well loved and soft.
I am able to take out the old pages and store them. It is also easier for me to print new journal pages than it is to find another journal every year.
If you are new to journaling, I would go with a less expensive option. Amazon has several styles of one-time use journals that can be used if you prefer to store the entire journal at the end of the year.
Malden A5 | Malden Personal | Saffiano Personal | The Original Personal | Domino Personal
Paperage Hardcover (160 pgs) | Joyeux Harcover (160 pgs) | 2 Pack (365 pgs each) | 3 Pack Paperage
Supplies for Love Journaling
When it comes to supplies for your love journal, you can be as extra or as minimal as you would like.
Pens and highlighters are a necessity for journaling. I tend to change up the color each month so that it keeps thing interesting. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Papermate InkJoy | Papermate Flair | Flair Dupe | LePin | Zebra Mildliners | Mildliner Dupe
I love stickers for journaling. Something about love journaling pages makes me want to decorate. It could be the excitement. I could be that I’m a sticker hoarder and need to use them at some point. These are some old faithfuls that I have used over the years:
Month Stickers | Month Tabs | Quote Stickers
Washi Tape is always fun for starting a journal. It can correct mistakes and cover edges. If you’re not a fan of tabs, you can use washi tape to decorate edges of a new month. There are so many options for washi tape. I’d suggest getting a couple sets and using them for each new year journal spread or setup.
Solid Thin Washi Tape | Solid Thick Washi Tape | Grid Washi Tape | Patterned Washi Tape

Scriptures for Bible Journaling Love
Scriptures can be a great source of inspiration and comfort when it comes to relationships and extremely helpful when love journaling. If you are manifesting love through these relationship journal prompts, they can provide us with guidance as we journal to help us to better love the people around us. By regularly journaling scriptures, we can also gain a greater insight into how God views relationships and how He wants us to love one another. These scriptures should only enhance these deep writing prompts about love.
Self Love Journal Ideas
- write a short love letter to yourself
- Find scriptures/verses that define what love is to you (see list above)
- clip in a sweet card you’ve received
- Make a collage of the people/things you love most
- Talk about how love was personified this month
Love languages are very important (for this month’s questions and for life). If you’ve not tested your love languages, you can do that now here. If you’ve done it before, see if they have the same order. As the years go on, you can see if the way you love/receive love changes.
Remember: This is your journey. If there are aspects of love that you want to expound on, do it! I have prompts, you have to tell your story.
Really use this month and daily self love prompts to explore what love is in your life. If that means reaching out to someone you love daily to say out loud that you love him or her or working toward loving someone at a distance to protect your peace, do it.
How to Manifest Love Journal Prompts
We all love. It’s not always rainbows and fairytales. It’s work and is something we have to decide to do. We can decide if the way we love lines up with our belief system or our faith then, make adjustments.
In loving those around us we have to learn how to respect individual differences and make the conscious effort to accept other humans as they are in their essence and not for what they do for and to us.
I love you! Let’s spread love this month in our pursuit of counting it all joy.
