Faith is what most of us run our cars on. No explanation needed. We got this one right?
Subject: Faith
Yeah. I drove my car on faith one time and I was on the side of the road getting help from strangers (which is a different lesson on faith). When the wise man said “Faith without works is dead”, I felt it in my spirit that day on the side of the road. While I had faith I was going to be “ok”, I passed several gas stations and missed the opportunity to work.
Many times, we drive past the figurative gas stations in our lives and end up on the side of the road. Faith requires that we both wait in expectancy and work within our strength. Throughout life, we have to learn how to master the delicate balance of both. We will encounter various levels of tests that will cause us to exercise faith differently. Over the course of the month of August, we will explore the multifaceted word: faith.
Objective:
Since we’ve already created our template for what we are going to do each month, the task of copying prompts and setting up this month should be fairly easy. If you are finding this page first, check out my post on how to start journaling here, then pop back over to get the prompts.
Use this optional prompt at the end of month. If you want to track any other memories, add them at the end of the month. This isn’t the primary focus, but it’s always fun to keep fun memories.
Here are a few of ideas for the end of the month recap:
- Write a list of things you believe you are meant to do, but haven’s started
- Start working toward one of the things listed this month
- Write down a list of times you had to exercise faith and it worked out in your favor
Actionable Item:
Start the month off by making a statement of faith (something that you can’t fathom happening, but believe will happen). Take time every day to talk about your statement of faith and see what happens. Faith believes in and for things we cannot see. Even though we can’t figure out how some things happen, we hope and have confidence that they will. In most instances, we look back and realize situations play out much better than anything we could have thought up anyway.
Point of it all:
Listen, I have a whole section of this blog dedicated to people’s stories of faith (check them out) and how it all ends up coming together for the best. You can read some stories of faith and really get an idea of what it is. In each story, there is a thread of faith and belief that allowed each person to accomplish their goal. If you don’t do any of the calls to action ever on this blog, I hope and pray that you at least attempt to do this one. What do you think can happen in your life if you exercised a little more faith?
